Provenance is an educational trivia game in which players guess the country and date of origin for furniture, home goods and decor.

Every day, players have a chance to assess four pieces, worth 250 points each (125 for date, 125 for country) for a maximum of 1,000 points. Most items come with a link where you can purchase or bid on the piece—please do!

A note on dates: The goal is to guess the date that the piece was first designed and manufactured. For example, if you see a picture of an Eames Lounger, the correct answer is 1950–1959, even if the specific example shown was manufactured in 1966. Whenever possible, I'll try to find original examples.

A note on places: In many cases, precision is complicated. The Barcelona chair was designed by Germans for an exhibition in Spain. It was originally manufactured by a German company, but the license was subsequently transferred to Knoll, an American company. Whenever possible, I'll do my best to avoid situations like that. When in doubt, defer to the country of manufacture. Apologies for any ambiguities or errors.

A note on accuracy: I am not a design historian, an antiques dealer, or an expert appraiser. I'll do my best, but please forgive any errors.
